I created MELANATED because I wanted to bring the vibrant vision I carry in my mind into the world — a vision where our people are thriving, building, and unapologetically loving who we are. I wanted to capture the beauty of us in our fullness: creating, working for ourselves, lifting each other up. I wanted to document the moments when we’re not just smiling for the camera, but truly smiling because we’ve found joy in being ourselves. I want to see us breaking records, making history, and having real conversations that move us forward. Above all, I want to create something that celebrates our culture, our resilience, and our power — something that inspires us to weave pride into every aspect of our daily lives.
There are countless voices out there demanding change — through protests, rallies, hashtags, and more — and while those efforts are crucial, true transformation starts within. Change begins when we take control of our own narrative and step forward in the race toward our own reparation. MELANATED is that first step. It’s a shift in how we think, move, and live — an entirely new outlook on our lives. It’s time for us to rewrite the story, embrace our worth, and build the future we deserve.
